Welcome on the site of Luc Moreau.
Tourangeau of origin and student of Robert Vivian and Louis Reynaud , Luc Moreau is a french glaciologist, doctor of alpin geography, associated member of the research team from the Laboratory CNRS Dynamic Environment and Territory Mountain EDYTEM , associated of THEMA CNRS of Besançon laboratory, his speciality is subglacial hydrology linked to sliding of the glaciers. For over 20 years, he studied and the extent of alpine glaciers sliding on the bedrock in relation to traffic meltwater for the Franco-Swiss electricity Emosson SA within the site capture subglacial Argentiere glacier. The phenomena noticed explain the faster speeds of the glaciers in the summer and probably also the source of the acceleration of large polar glaciers noticed over the past few years (pronounced melting). He contributes to the studies of hydrology ice applied to hydropower, but also for fundamental knowledge and the risk of pockets of water. To share his passion, he teaches glaciology, including the Ecole Nationale de Ski Mountaineering of Chamonix and participates in TV programs for the general public.
